           A
note about NYC In Pictures: Long
before Google streetview, Frank Didik recognized the importance of
photographing every building and every area of the world. In 1982,
before the Internet was available to the public, he proposed to the
City of New York to photograph every building in the city and
demonstrated this with a sample in lower manhattan. He repeated this
demonstration by photographing every building south of 59 Street in
Manhattan in 1997. The purpose was to create a seamless view of every
city and location on the planet for historic purposes as well as
enhance marketing. After proposing this project to municipalities,
credit card companies, banks and the early search engines...the
project went nowhere. Below please find some of the photographs of
Manhattan in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Much higher
definitions are available. Photographs of buildings in New York City
range from 25 years old to 45 years old and are not available
anywhere else. To inquire about the availability and buy a specific
early photograph of a building, please call or send an email to
           "inq at didik.com". Thank you.

            Information on the archive

            The
photographs of building in New York City are part of the virtual
            reality city program.
Most of the property photographs listed here were shot between March
and July 2001. Each link below contains anywhere from 20 to 700
thumbnail photographs. Some images are shown rotated at 90 degrees in
order to save space on the thumbnail page. The full size of each
property photograph is about 1 megapixel (which is not presently
on-line, but is sent to you after purchase either as an email file or
print or on a cd-rom). For pricing information and terms for
magazines and newspapers, please send at email to "inq at
didik.com" . If you do not see what you are looking for, please
contact send at email to "inq at didik.com" or telephone
since other images of each of these properties as well as other
properties are available. In many cases, multiple photographs, such
as night, winter, summer and other images were taken of each
property. A large collection of still and video images photographed
between 1985 and 1986, depicting buildings and street life on the
upper East Side, upper West Side, Harlem and Washington Heights is
also available, though not yet on-line. For details on this older
collection, please send at email to send at email to "inq at
didik.com" . The thumbnail photographs shown on-line are not
necessarily the best photograph that we have available. When
purchasing, if your photographic need is not absolutely time
dependent, you may wish to contact us so that we may provide you with
the best possible image available for the particular property. We are
in the process of improving the index and search capability. We
recognize that presently it may be difficult for you to find a
particular image on-line since each link contains a continuous stream
of EVERY BUILDING on a particular side of a street from one section
to another (for example: the every property on the north side of 34
Street from Fifth Avenue to the FDR). We are working to improve the
index. Soon, you will soon be able to search by address or block and
lot or by clicking on a detailed map. If you can not locate a
property, please send an email at email to "inq at
didik.com" for prompt assistance in locating an image for the
property.Custom photographs are available on short notice.

Manhattan showing all streets coated in dust. Shot from City Hall,
about 20 minutes after the last tower fell. Includes police,
security, military, fighter planes flying overhead, as well as views
of 1 Center Street and Police Plaza.

what was happening as well as police barricades and dazed people

            clearly seen.

video's of the Trade Center itself, but rather from two blocks north
of the World Trade Center up to 14 Street. In total, about 2 hours of
quality video tape footage shows the caotic street scenes immediately
after the collapse of the twin towers.

       VIRTUAL
       REALITY CITIES OF THE WORLD
       A
note about NYC In Pictures: Long
before Google streetview, Frank Didik recognized the importance of
photographing every building and every area of the world. In 1982,
before the Internet was available to the public, he proposed to the
City of New York to photograph every building in the city and
demonstrated this with a sample in lower manhattan. He repeated this
demonstration by photographing every building south of 59 Street in
Manhattan in 1997. The purpose was to create a seamless view of every
city and location on the planet for historic purposes as well as
enhance marketing. After proposing this project to municipalities,
credit card companies, banks and the early search engines...the
project went nowhere. Oh well. Below please find some of the
photographs of Manhattan in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Much
       higher definitions are available.
